Elections and transition of power in Africa

Center for Media & Peace Initiatives (CMPI) New York, a media and public policy think tank dedicated to communicating innovative solutions to global challenges announces its speaker for the 2014 Public Lecture.

This year’s lecture will be given by Dr. Humphrey Nwosu, a technocrat, academic, distinguished political scientist, and former Chairman of Nigeria’s National Electoral Commission. Under his leadership, Prof. Nwosu is credited to have  conducted the freest election in Africa’s most populous country, Nigeria in 1993 defying the military dictatorship of the time.

We are excited to have a person of Prof. Nwosu’s stature speak at this year’s CMPI Public Lecture Series in New York. The cream of Africans and their friends including the diplomatic corps, students and civil society will attend the event. Prof. Nwosu will speak on “Electoral Reforms and Appropriate Political Order in Africa: Developing a Tested Model for Emerging Democracies”.

The CMPI’s Public Lecture which has become the leading intellectual event of its kind in New York is an occasion for a prominent personality to present a serious lecture to an audience of diverse groups.
